Sorrento Hotel Parking Garage Mural Design
First Hill residents, business owners, and patrons
The Seattle Mural Project, Magnetic ERV, and the Department of Neighborhood’s Matching Fund are seeking neighborhood feedback related to artists who have submitted their qualifications to paint a mural on the Sorrento Hotel garage at 932 Madison Street on the northeast corner of 9th Avenue and Madison Street on First Hill in Seattle, Washington.
The public input process:
We launched a RFQ on November 28, 2014 for qualified artists interested in painting the Sorrento garage. The RFQ was launched on Seattle Mural Project’s website, Facebook page, various mural blogs, and the Capitol Hill Blog to encourage community artists to apply. We closed the RFQ process on January 5, 2015. We were overwhelmed to have received artists from our neighborhood, Washington state, national, and international applicants.
Below we have included an example from each artist that submitted material to our recent request for qualifications. With each example we have included an opportunity for the public to rate the artist based on our selected criteria. After you are done providing feedback on the artists of your choice, there will be an opportunity to let us know how long you spent voting and provide a comment if you wish. Please be mindful that the Sorrento Hotel will be involved in the final selection process of the mural.
In addition to the opportunity for the public to give input online, representatives will be onsite at the southwest garage entrance to answer questions on Wednesday March 25th from 11am until 2pm. We will be taking input from community members, residents, and anyone interested in providing their input. The southwest garage entrance is located at the corner of 9th Ave. and Madison St.
